VMware is also making lots of natural changes on its form of business on the market place and acquiring key companies to consolidate the business position on the market. VMware announced on Monday July 23, 2012 that it was going to acquire NICIRA software Development Company for strengthening its virtual networking capabilities and increasing the organic growth of business on cloud market.
It was officially announced that this deal was finally settled for $1.26 billion. This should be noted that NICIRA software isolates the virtual services from the physical service oncloud hosting based services; and its has already great names of customers on its business list like AT&T, Dreamhost cloud hosting, and Rackspace are few to name.
In the statement of Mr. Martin Casado CEO and co-founder of NICIRA Software Company said, ““The value we bring to customers lies in our open approach and the richness of capabilities in network virtualization. The combination of Nicira and VMware brings together two pioneering teams, and gives customers the industry leading SDN solution for any cloud environment, on any hypervisor in the enterprise and with service providers.”
Meanwhile, Paul Maritz CEO of VMware has said in his press release statement, “VMware has led the server virtualization revolution, and we have the opportunity to do the same in datacenter and cloud networking. The acquisition of Nicira adds to our portfolio of networking assets and positions VMware to be the industry leader in software-defined networking.”
Further it was also maintained by VMware management that VMware will continue its support for its VSwitch product that connects physical infrastructure with hypervisors in open cloud hosting platforms.
The analysts are anticipating this merger will take major portion of business on this domain of cloud hosting business.
